For the 9th consecutive year Bansko is “Bulgaria’s Best Ski Resort". The title comes from the highest authority in the tourism industry - the World Ski Awards after an anonymous vote, which lasted from May to December, 2021. The online competition involved over 200 resorts from 5 continents. More than 2.4 million customers and tourism professionals from more than 140 countries voted at the website Worldskiawards.com, turning this competition into the largest and most representative for the industry.

Another award from World Ski Awards comes in Bansko as well: “Bulgaria’s Best Ski Hotel 2021" this year is Lucky Bansko Spa & Relax.
For the seventh time “Bulgaria's Best Ski Boutique Hotel 2021" is Alpin in Borovets, and the prize “Bulgaria’s Best Ski Chalet 2021" goes to Villa Gela in Smolyan.

Launched in 2013, World Ski Awards aims to drive up standards within the ski industry by rewarding the organisations that are leaders in their field. The voting methodology is simple; votes are cast by professionals working within the ski industry -  senior executives, travel buyers, tour operators, agents and media - and by the public (ski tourism consumers). Votes are submitted online at World Ski Awards website. The voting works on a first-past-the-post system to ensure impartiality and independence.

Ski tourism constitutes a vital segment of the global travel and tourism marketplace. An estimated 400 million skier visits take place each year to the +2,500 ski resorts which are home to over 6 million hotel beds.
