Many fans of skiing, snowboarding and mountaineering gathered on December 17th, 2022 at Banderishka Polyana for the opening of Winter season 2022-2023, despite the unfavorable weather conditions for winter sports.
A special guest at the event this year was Maria Höfl-Riesch, who is a three-time Olympic and two-time World Ski Champion. The German received a special gift from the hosts from Ulen - a branded gondola.


"I am happy to be here and thank you especially for the great honor of having my own gondola here," posted Maria Reisch on her Facebook profile.

Unfortunately the traditional race “Get in the Team of the Champ" did not take place, but attendees tried their luck in the game "Treasure Hunters". Nikolay Lekev from Bansko won a season ski pass. The big prize, a brand new Audi car this year went to Lyuben Shumerski from Blagoevgrad.

Host of the event was Deo, and the good mood in the heart of the Bansko ski area was ensured by the rapper 100 Kila, who rapped his biggest hits to the accompaniment of bagpipes.

“We hope that temperatures are dropping soon! In order to produce technological snow with the snow cannons we need at least -3 degrees Celsius and low air humidity. We hope that natural snow will fall soon so that we can open the slopes above Bansko as soon as possible. We did our best and our team put a lot of effort in the last 2 weeks to prepare the slopes, but the heat of the last days destroyed all our work. We did everything that depended on us, but nature always has the last word", Ivan Obreykov from Ulen AD said.

The update of the prices of the ski passes and tickets for Bulgaria’s Best Ski Resort for 10 consecutive years (according to the Wold Ski Awards) is about 14%. For some age groups such as children and retirees the prices compared to previous years are almost unchanged, in case multi-day passes are purchased.
