The most successful lady in the history of Italian skiing Deborah Compagnoni will launch the ski season in Bansko on December 16th!
The three-time Olympic champion in alpine skiing comes at the invitation of Ulen, the concessionaire of the ski area in Bansko, thus observing the 20-year tradition of a skiing legend visiting Bulgaria’s Best Ski Resort for the opening of the season.
In her fantastic career, Compagnoni won gold medals at three consecutive Winter Olympics – Albertville ’92 (super-g), Lillehammer ’94 (giant slalom) and Nagano ’98 (giant slalom). At the Olympic games in Japan, she also won silver in the slalom. From World Championships, the Italian also has 3 titles - Sierra Nevada ’96 (giant slalom), Sestriere ’97 (giant slalom and slalom). From 1992 to 1998, the all-rounder also won 16 World Cup starts (13 in giant slalom, 2 in super-g and 1 in slalom).
Next to Compagnoni in Bansko on December 16th will be the 5-time World Cup winner Marc Girardelli.
